Durham is about 15 miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). You may rent a car, but if comfortable, we highly recommend using Uber/Lyft as hotel parking can be expensive and everything you need is no more than a five-minute ride away in Durham. You may also enjoy a nice walk. (For the record, Maura laughed out loud at the suggestion that anyone opt to suffer the heat and humidity of the South in June rather than bask in the cool glow of a total stranger's air conidtioning ).
ACCOMMODATION
Durham has accommodation for all budgets and tastes. We recommend staying close to downtown or Duke Gardens. Airbnb can be a great option as well, although if you are unfamiliar with Durham, you might want to run it by us first. We wouldn't want you out in the boonies all by yourself, now would we?
